Israeli Settlers Set Fire to Homes and Cars in West Bank, Wounding Residents

Violence erupted in the occupied West Bank as settlers attacked Palestinian areas, setting fires and causing injuries during Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Israeli settlers set fire to homes and vehicles in the occupied West Bank, wounding at least one resident in attacks near Jenin, according to reports from the Palestinian Wafa news agency.

In the village of al-Fandaqumiya and the town of Seilat al-Dahr, south of Jenin, settlers stormed the areas late on Saturday, igniting homes and cars while damaging additional properties by smashing windows. Residents attempted to confront the attackers and extinguish the fires, as verified by footage showing large blazes.

Additional Attacks Reported

In Seilat al-Dahr, settlers targeted several homes, tried to set them ablaze, and physically assaulted a resident, leaving him wounded. In Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, settlers injured two Palestinians and led to the arrest of three others under the protection of Israeli forces.

Other incidents included settler attacks on villages like Qaryut and Jalud, south of Nablus, where a four-wheel-drive vehicle was completely burned. Near Haris, west of Salfit, settlers threw stones at Palestinian vehicles on the main road, and similar stone-throwing occurred near Rawabi Square in Ramallah with no injuries reported.

These events took place during Eid al-Fitr celebrations and are part of a wave of settler violence in the occupied territory. The attacks follow previous incidents, such as the defacement and burning of a mosque near Nablus in February.

According to the United Nations, at least 1,094 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers in the West Bank since October 2023. Human rights groups, including B’Tselem, accuse Israeli authorities of allowing settlers to operate with impunity in their attacks on Palestinians.

Elsewhere, two Palestinians were injured by live fire from Israeli forces at the Jabara checkpoint south of Tulkarem, as reported by the Palestine Red Crescent Society.
