Reports indicate the U.S. proposed a 15-point plan for peace in the Iran war, while Cyprus negotiates base security with the UK.
The U.S. administration has reportedly sent a 15-point plan to Iran aimed at ending the ongoing war, with details shared via Pakistan, as per reports from Israel's Channel 12 and The New York Times. The plan includes a proposed one-month ceasefire and negotiations on key issues such as dismantling Iran's nuclear program and ceasing support for proxy groups like Hezbollah and Hamas.
According to the same sources, the plan also calls for reopening the Strait of Hormuz for safe passage. Pakistan has offered to host potential U.S.-Iran talks, highlighting its role as an intermediary in these diplomatic efforts.
Israel's Stance on the Plan
Israel's ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, stated that Israel is not involved in the reported U.S.-Iran discussions and will continue military operations against targets in Iran. He emphasized that recent attacks have achieved significant results but the mission is ongoing.
In Cyprus, President Nikos Christodoulides has requested negotiations with the UK over security arrangements for British military bases at Akrotiri and Dhekelia, according to the Telegraph. This follows an incident where an Iranian-made drone crashed into one of the bases, raising local concerns about risks.
The UK Ministry of Defense responded by affirming that the bases' status is not negotiable and reiterated the strong alliance with Cyprus amid regional threats. Additionally, reports noted that Israeli attacks in Lebanon have displaced over 1 million people since March 2, 2026, and oil prices rose with Brent crude exceeding $100 per barrel on March 25, 2026.
Iran has indicated that non-hostile ships may transit the Strait of Hormuz, and the U.S. is reportedly deploying thousands of troops to the Middle East despite peace talks. Lebanon has asked its Iranian ambassador to leave amid escalating tensions.
