Hezbollah Rocket Attack Kills One in Northern Israel Amid Ongoing Lebanon Assault

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack in northern Israel that killed one person, as Israeli forces escalate operations in southern Lebanon.

A Hezbollah attack killed at least one person in northern Israel on March 22, 2026, the first fatality from Lebanese fire since the U.S.-Israel war on Iran started more than three weeks ago. Hezbollah stated it targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers with rockets in the Misgav Am area.

Israeli forces have intensified their ground invasion in southern Lebanon, with more troops deployed to the region. The operation has resulted in over 1,000 deaths and displaced approximately one million people since the conflict escalated earlier this month.

Israel's emergency services reported that a rocket from Lebanon struck a vehicle, causing it to catch fire. Paramedics from Magen David Adom confirmed the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, though the identity remains unknown.

Israeli Military Actions in Lebanon

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered the military to accelerate the destruction of homes and bridges in southern Lebanon to counter threats. Specifically, forces were instructed to demolish bridges over the Litani River to block Hezbollah movements.

Hezbollah fighters reported targeting Israeli soldiers and vehicles near the border towns of Taybeh and Khiam. Meanwhile, the Israeli military claimed it killed a Hezbollah Radwan Force commander, Abu Khalil Barji, and two others in an airstrike in the Majdal Selem area.

The Israeli military also stated it killed a Hamas operative, Walid Muhammad Dib, earlier in the week for alleged financing activities. These claims have not been independently verified by other sources.

Lebanese authorities reported that Israeli attacks since March 2 have killed at least 1,024 people and injured 2,740 others, amid ongoing airstrikes on southern Lebanon.
